Living In Philippines
The Philippines is a tropical country quite unknown to many, but until just over 100 years ago it was a Spanish colony for a period of 330 years, thanks to which it still retains many cultural aspects, such as religion (it is the only Catholic country in Asia), surnames, and some other buildings. In fact, in the past Manila was considered the pearl of the Orient for its rich colonial style architecture, but unfortunately due to successive natural disasters and after the passage of several wars, it was almost completely destroyed. For the last 10 years we have been moving to the Philippines, with frequent departures from all over Spain and delivering anywhere in the country.
The Philippines is an archipelago of 7107 islands totaling some 300 000 km² of land. Two of these islands already total 200,000 km²: the largest, Luzon, with a total of approximately 105,000 km², and Mindanao, with 94,600 km². The rest is made up of countless smaller islands. The archipelago is located about 800 km from the Asian mainland and lies between Borneo and Taiwan. It can be divided into three island groups: Mindanao and adjacent islands in the north (Luzon, Mindoro, Marinduque, Masbate and Batanes); the Bisayan islands in the center (Panay, Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Leyte and Sámar, among others); and Mindanao and adjacent islands, together with the Jolo archipelago, in the south.
Language
More than 170 languages are spoken in the Philippines, almost all of them from the Filipino group within the Austronesian family. Only two of them, Filipino or Tagalog (a de facto variant of Tagalog) and English, are official throughout the country. In addition to Tagalog, which is the language of the capital, Manila, and the island of Luzon, more than 170 indigenous languages of Malayo-Polynesian origin coexist.
