Living in Hungary
Hungary is a landlocked country in Central Europe. Climate
Hungary experiences a significant temperature contrast. The average temperature in January is around -1°C, and in July, it’s about 22°C, with an annual temperature fluctuation exceeding 20°C. Therefore, winters are cold, with many months of definite frost, and summers are warm. However, there are no long-term extreme temperatures or severe cold.
Currency
The official currency of Budapest is the HUF (Hungarian Forint). Some people refer to the currency as “florins” in the plural because Hungary’s currency is known as “forint.” Hungary has planned to adopt the euro, but no timeline has been set.
Language
The official language, Hungarian (Magyar), is one of the Uralic languages written in Latin script, influenced by Turkish, Slavic, German, Latin, and French. Many residents also speak German and English, and a large number of people understand Russian due to the Second World War.
